この絵は、前に投稿した絵で、Song of Five Years　の3年後に描いたもので、記念の絵です。今でもアメリカの家に飾ってあります。

This was a painting, done 3 years after the Song of Five Years, and commemorated an anniversary. This painting is still hanged in a home in the US.

今まで描いた絵の中でもとても思い入れの強い作品で、結構短い時間で完成しました。僕が絵を描く時には2つパターンがあって、１）ちゃんと計画を立てて、写実的な絵を時間をかけて描く時、２）感情が高ぶっている時に、その衝動に任せて無計画で描く時、とがあって、この絵は２）のパターンです。

I am very attached to this painting, and it was done in a quite short time. There are generally 2 patterns of how I paint, which are, 1) starting with a plan and taking time to paint in more naturalistic/realistic style, 2) without a plan, simply paint as my emotion flows. This painting is the latter.

こうやって2つのパターンを使い分けることで、芸術家としてのバランス、そして僕個人の精神的なバランスをとっていました。最近は、こういう大きな油絵を描く機会がほとんどないのが残念ですが、せっかくヘルシンキに住んでいるのだし、画材は高いけど、その内、またこれくらい大きい絵を描きたいと思っています。

Switching those 2 patterns, allowed me to balance my artistic creativity, as well as my personal mental stage, which was (still is) always up and down. I have not had an opportunity to paint this type of large painting for the past few years. However, I would love to paint sometime while I live in Helsinki though things are so expensive here.

11月、12月のヘルシンキは日照時間もめちゃくちゃ短く、それも曇りの日ばっかりで、結構気分的に沈んだので、やはり最初は大きなヒマワリの絵にしたいです。

In November and December here, it was very dark (short daylight time and mostly cloudy), and affected my mood quite a bit, which I had never experienced before. So, my first painting in Helsinki will be definitely the Sunflowers.
