数年前から始めた日本神話の別天神シリーズ。
まずは造化三神から、、、と思いきや制作意欲に欠け既に3年目。😅
This is part of the "Koto Amatsu Kami" series. Koto Amatsu Kami were the 5 first gods appeared in the heavenly field for which they were considered the highest of the highest.
このシリーズを始めるきっかけになったのは、数年前に見たトランスジェンダー女性へのリンチのビデオ。ブラジルで頻繁に起こり続ける同性愛者やトランスジェンダーの人々への暴行や殺人。ビデオを見た時にはかなりのショックで、暫く言葉が出ませんでした。女性は殴られ叩かれ続けた後、1輪車でどこかへ運ばれ、（ビデオはそこまで）銃によって殺されます。その痛みや絶望、そして恐怖は僕には到底想像できるものではありませんでした。
One of the main reasons I thought about this project was a horrifying video I watched a few years ago. The video was a lynching of a trans-gendered woman in Brazil. She was beaten, and later, shot to death. It was traumatizing to watch, thinking about unimaginable fear, pain, and despair she went through.
このビデオを見た後は、”何かしないといけない” いう衝動にかられて、ふっと頭をよぎったのは性別の無い日本の最初の神様。
It somehow made me think of the first gods in Japanese mythology, which they had no gender.
日本でも昔から慣習の一つであった男色（主に大人と若い男性）。西洋のキリスト教伝来（自分たちも子供たちに性虐待していたくせに）とともに著しく非難され始め、19世紀の急速な西洋化とともに、日本ではヨーロッパ・欧米諸国同様に、同性愛は下げずまれるものとなっていきました。
Historically, homosexuality was a common practice in Japan, mainly between an adult man and a young boy. As the Catholic missionaries came to Japan, they criticized the practice (though they were also abusing children in the church). In the 19th century, as Japan rapidly westernized, the idea of homosexuality became a sign of abomination.
このプロジェクトの意図するところは、日本（勿論、日本だけに限ったことではありません、例えば古代ギリシャなど）の先人たちの流動的な性や性別、そして性的関心への見方や寛容さ。
This project suggests the concept of the fluidity of sex and sexuality in Japanese history (of course, it existed in many places in the world from ancient time).
まず一番初めに描いたのは最初に高天原に現れた神、天之御中主神。
My first work was "Ame no Minaka Nushi Kami," who first appeared on the heavenly field. Ame no means "in the heaven," Minaka means "centre," Nushi, "lord," and Kami is "god."
最初のデザインは油絵で描いていましたが、途中で断念。
嫌いではなっかたのだけど何か、しっくりとこなかった。。。😅
それがこれ。
This was the first design, painted in oil, but I stopped painting.
Although I liked it, it just did not feel 100% sure.
気を取り直して、裏に新しく描いたのがこっち。
こちらは色を余りつけずに、線の動きを強調したかったのでペンで。かなり気に入っています。
This is the official version, painted on the back of the first one. For this, I used a pen and added minimum colours to emphasize the movement of the lines. I personally love this design.
