Sunflowers

昼と夜のひまわりの絵です。
どちらも2ｍを超える長さで、昼のは僕が働く大学に買われて重要な会議室に飾ってあります。

兄夫婦に連れられて行った新宿のビルの上にある美術館。初めて見たゴッホのひまわりの迫力は今でも忘れられません。

それからひまわりを描くのが好きになり、昼バージョンの3連はこれが3作目です。
幸運なことに全て売れました。

下の夜のバージョンも気に入っていましたが、
大学の恩師の定年時に寄贈しました。その内もう一回描きたいと思っています。

There are day time version and nighttime version, which both are measured 8'w x 4'h. The day time version was commissioned by the university where I work. Now it is hanged in the Provost Conference Room.

My brother and his wife took me to one of the Shinjuku's museums back in 2000. That was where I saw one of van Gogh's Sunflowers. I still remember vividly it was one of those defining moments in my life. I felt like I was in a different world. I started painting sunflowers after that.

The day time version is actually my 3rd piece of the same kind. First two were sold to different buyers. I do like the night version too. I gave this piece to my mentor at the university when he retired. I would like to paint it again.
