無印のクリアーフレームで

無印で売っている安いフレームを使って日本和紙と折り紙、インクに水彩を使いました。

天使、猫、星も日本で買ったスタンプでカットしたものです。

何となーく作れるので気軽です。

I bought this frame at the Mujirushi. Materials used for the piece are Japanese paper (washi), origami paper, pen&ink, and watercolour.

These affordable clear frames are lovely, and I love how I can just make things when I feel like it. It is not a time-consuming piece, but I still like them for its simpleness and softness.

デジタルです。

バックは実家近所の土手で撮った写真で、それに色々な油絵と写真とのテキスチャーをPhotoshopで重ねました。

そこまで気に入ってる作品でもないので思い入れはこれと言って無し。。。笑

This is a digital piece. The background is mixed with several layers of oil paintings and photographs. It is not my favourite piece, and I have no special attachment...lol

インク、水彩


ゲーム美術の展覧会に出品しようかと思って何となく始めた絵ですが、間に合わず、FFVIのティナの作品だけを出して終わりまし

 た。

This piece does not have a title. I struggled to come up with the title. So, I left it without it. Pen&ink and watercolour were used. I was planning to submit this piece for the Game Art Exhibit with my To Narshe. But, I could not finish it in time.

だらだらと描いていたので結構時間がかかってしまいました。
This was an on-off project and took a while to complete.
 

この左の戦士は余り気に入っていませんがまあ力量不足なのでしょうがない。
I am not crazy about this warrior, but it simply is my lack of skill.

 テーマは勿論”光と闇”。一見魔物に見える怪物の後ろにいる姫を、この戦士が助けようとしているように見えますが、”果たして本当にそうなのか？”　ということをテーマにした作品です。

The theme is "Light and Darkness". This image appeared to be the warrior is trying to save the princess from this menacing creature.

However, my question is "is it simply as it appeared to be?"

もし、姫が実はこの魔物のような生き物と一緒であったのなら？
If the princess is with this foul-looking creature?

それともこの魔物は姫の分身であったのなら？
Or, if this monster was the princess herself?

この戦士はもしかすると　”正義の為”　ではなく美しい姫を手に入れる私欲のために魔物を殺そうとしているのか。。。
This warrior might not be "good". He just wants the beautiful princess for himself.

この戦士は本当に正義なのか、、、もしかしたら全く逆の存在なのでは。。。
Is he really a good person? Could it be completely opposite?

正義って何？　誰が決めるの？
What is justice? Who decides who is right?


混沌とした世界の中、正義と悪をはっきりと分けようとするのが人間の自然的な物事に対する基準なのかもしれません。しかし全ての物事はそんな単純なことではないということを投げかけたかった作品です。
Our society is in such turmoil because many of us are so eager to separate people and countries in good or bad. Who decides who and what is on the right side? It may be a nature of being a human that we like to take sides and demonize the others. However, nothing is that simple.

大学で研究するに至って、物事を1方向で見ているだけでは何も見えてきません。　最低でも正反対の視点を考慮して、初めて問題の本質が見えてくるものかもしれません。
If you look into just one side of the story, most likely, you will not have a whole story, nor resolution to the matter. There are at least 2 sides of stories in every story. Examining 2 opposite sides is critical. Then we may start seeing the real problem that leads to a reliable solution. This is at least what I believe.

Saints

 大学で集めた紙のボードに油で描きました。

貧乏だったので（今でもですが）、キャンバスを買うお金がなく、大学内で拾えるこのボードは大いに活躍してくれました。
Those oil pieces were painted on thick cardboards. Especially around at that time, I could not afford to buy canvas or even tiles ($2 each) at HomeDepot or Lowe's. So I gathered the scrapped boards at the university, which they were everywhere in the art building. Students threw them away after they cut out a frame. So, I picked them up.

この2つの絵はお気に入りで、今年日本に帰った時に、
兄の新築祝い用に持って帰ろうと思っています。

I love those 2 paintings and keeping them for a while. But, I am bringing them to Japan this year to give them to my older brother who bought a house a few years ago. I have not sent a housewarming gift yet. So, those will be perfect.

男のセイントの方は、手が小さくかなりバランスが崩れているのが気になるけど、直さずにそのままにしました。
どちらの絵も、大好きなプルシアンブルーをふんだんに使いました。
This male saint's hand is too small and creating uneasy balance as a whole picture, but I left the hand as it was. Prussian Blue is one of my favourite colours, and I use it almost for every oil painting piece.

Project Oracle Card: Friend

3番目のデザインは”Friend”でした。
This was my 3rd design of the Oracle Card Project.

僕の個人的な友達感というのは”狭く深く”です。
My idea of friendship is a tiny circle of friends with genuine friendship.   

余り人付き合いが好きではなく苦手。知人は沢山いますが、
遊ぶとなると、片手で数えられる位の友達しかいません。
それでも多いとも思っています。。。笑

Personally, I am not a big fan of socializing and making friends. Most of the time, I avoid being around people because it usually makes me nervous. I have many people that I know (kind of friends...?). However, I only have a few friends that I like to hang out. I probably can count on one hand, which I still think I have lots...hahaha


信頼できる、そして一緒にいて安心して楽しめる友達が一人でもいるならそれで充分なような気もします。
All you need is one friend that you can trust, feel safe, and can have fun with.

取っておこうかと思いましたが、売れたかあげたか忘れました。。。
I forgot what happened to this piece, but I am sure either it was sold, or I gave it to someone.

油彩

友達に頼まれて描いた最初のシティースケープです。
2006年学士時代の最後の学期に描きました。
My friend commissioned this painting. I painted in the last semester of my BFA in 2006.

今でも友達の家に飾ってあります。
何年か後にニューヨークの絵も描きましたが、そちらは直ぐに売れてしまいました。
This painting still decorates my friend's living room. A few years later, I painted NYC, but it was sold at an art show.

Lagoon

デジタルです。
This is a digital piece.

ベースは油絵で、何年も前に描いたものです。
今でも部屋に飾ってあります。
The foundation of this piece is from one of the paintings that I painted in 2006. It is still hanged in my bedroom.

新しく詩集をまとめる時に、その油絵に色々混ぜて作りました。どちらとも結構気に入っています。
When I decided to reorganize my poetry books, I re-created the image on Photoshop.

この絵には詩がついてきますが、あとで詩集についてもこのブログで取り上げたいと思っています。
This image comes with a poem, and I will talk about my books later on this blog.

Project Pracle Card: Now

これが今のところ最後のデザインになっています。19番目のカードです。
So far, this is the last design of 19 cards that I designed.

この天使は僕の創ったあるキャラクターの別の姿として描きました。その内物語を描こうと思ってるので詳細はその時に。何時になるかわかりませんが。。。

This figure is another form of one of my characters. I am planning to write a story to reveal the mystery of this character. However, when I start writing is undecided...

未だに色を付けようかこのままにしようか迷ってますが、どちらかというとこのままにしておこうかと思っています。
I am still deciding if I should colour it or not because I do like the simple drawing and unfinished quality. So, I am leaving as it is for now.

全身像のバランスが少し悪いので（足の部分が）その内直します。
The balance of the figure is little off because of the feet. I will retouch that part later.

my heart

小さなシャドウボックスで作ったシンプルな作品です。

何個か売って、他はプレゼントとしてあげました。

Smaller shadowbox works. It is very simple assemblage.
I sold few and gave some as gifts.

ハートのペンダントトップはフリーマーケットで見つけたアンティーク。余り深い意味も込めずに”My Heart”というテキストを付けましたが、結局、全ての作品は僕の心の一部であるということは確かなことです。


Heart-shaped pendant-top was one of my favourite things to buy at a flea market. I did not intend to put a deep meaning to the text "My Heart" as every art piece I create is a piece of my heart.
