これは友達の誕生日・大学卒業祝いに描いたWatership
Downの絵です。その友人が、小さい頃からこの物語の大ファンだということで挑戦してみました。
最近ではCGを使ってリメークされていますが、古いアニメーションの方も新しいCGの方もどちらも好きです。友人曰く、リメーク版の方が原作に近いとのこと。
「世界の全てが汝の敵となるであろう、千の敵を持つ王子よ、もし捕まれば必ず殺されるであろう。しかし、その前に敵は汝を捕まえなければならない、地に穴を掘る術を磨き、よく耳を澄ませ、常に危険を真っ先に感知し先を行く王子であれ。狡猾にて多彩な術を持て、さすれば汝の民は決して滅ぼされることはないだろう。」
勝手に日本語に訳してみましたが、これは有名な一節で、僕も好きな言葉です。
This piece was a gift to my dear friend for his birthday and graduation. he is a massive fan of the Watership Down since he was little. So, I decided to draw one.
This story has been remade with CG recently, and I like them both old animation and the new one. According to my friend, the latest version follows more closely to the original story/book.
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince with
a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you.
But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with
the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be
destroyed.”
As many people do, I love this quote.
